Primary navigation

This website is a searchable, online database which is a free resource available to those looking for an Expert on Europe.

It has been designed to be compatible with browsers such as Internet Explorer 6, Firefox 1.5 or Safari 1.2. If you are using an older browser, some parts of this website may not function properly.

A successful search will present you with a summary profile of each Expert found. Click on the link in each summary to see their full profile, including a biography.

Once you have found your expert, you will be able to contact them directly. Although email addresses have been suppressed, you can send a message to their email address via a form available on the website.

Adding Language Skills to your Profile

If you have had problems adding language skills to your profile, please download the Help Sheet below. There is no limit on the number of languages that you can add.

Search tips

There are three search tools to help you find your Expert:

1) Search by Keyword
  • This is the most useful search tool if you are looking for a particular subject or topic.
  • A search for European constitution will find all pages containing 'European' AND 'constitution'
  • Pages at the top of the results page will have these words occuring more frequently, or closer together, than pages towards the bottom of the results.
  • Standard logic operators (AND, OR) can be used.
2) Search by Browsing
  • To 'Search by Browsing', navigate by clicking on any of the categories listed in the left hand column.
  • This will expand the selection to show sub-categories.
  • Some of the sub-categories can be expanded further, so you may be able to click on them again.
  • Each time you click on a category, or sub-category, search results will be generated on the main page.
  • The results are comprised of two parts:
    • A summary list which indicates sub-categories of the current selection for which there are more Experts (if any).
    • A list of experts for the category you have just selected (if any).
3) Search using Filters
  • This tool enables you to search by including / excluding Experts based on certain criteria. For example; you could filter your search to find all the Experts who have defined their research discipline as being 'Law' and exclude all others. You could make this search more specific by filtering on 'Law' and on people based in 'France'.
  • We recommend that you only use one or two of the filters provided in the first instance.

In addition to the search tools above, you will notice underlined hyperlinks, within your search results. These are 'pre-defined' searches. For example, if you are looking at a profile which states that the member is based in 'Brussels', you will be able to click on the 'Brussels' hyperlink to find other Experts that are also based in Brussels. Unfortunately, this will not find Experts based at 'Bruxelles' - you would need to perform a separate search.
